Good branding is more than just color codes and visual alignment. I’m Eliza Barrett, the founder and lead designer of Alongside Studio. It all started in 2019. Having spent several years studying the intricacies of graphic communications and art, I was intent on helping creative small business owners confidently step into the next era of their business through resonant, refined branding.
In 2021, my primary focus shifted to working for a branding agency, which further stretched, challenged, and refined my design sensibilities. Though I didn’t know it at the time, agency life was a kind of creative cross-training. When my heart pulled me back to running my own design studio (known then as Eliza Design Studio) full-time in 2023, I found I was equipped to serve my clients even better than before.
In the book Range, author David Epstein explains that
“the more contexts in which something is learned, the more the learner creates abstract models, and the less they rely on any particular example. Learners become better at applying their knowledge to a situation they’ve never seen before, which is the essence of creativity.”
AKA, by approaching design from various angles over the years, I learned how to step into my clients’ metaphorical shoes and design with their specific industry and audience in mind. And while my design work is naturally imprinted with the Alongside signature style, it also holds up a mirror to my clients, reflecting their preferences, audiences, and business ambitions.
My interest lies in leveraging quality design and practical marketing strategy to help creative business owners like you attract an aligned, engaged audience; generate the buzz you deserve; and step into a satisfying new season of life and business. If you’re into that.
