Astro Branding in Action: EF Creative + Consulting
An Astro Branding Case Study
Astro branding is an approach where a brand’s strategic and creative direction is born from the founder’s natal chart. Instead of choosing aesthetics based on taste or industry trends, we look at the cosmic/energetic architecture of the person behind the business (AKA the astrological natal chart). This method allows us to build an identity that matches the founder’s internal wiring, i.e. how they think, what drives them, and the kind of presence they naturally project.
With EF Creative + Consulting, this approach made immediate sense. The founder, Eliza, IS the eponymous brand. As a brand strategist, her work is personal, conceptual, and relational. When she came to me ready to rebrand her brand strategy consultancy, I suggested we explore an astro-rooted direction.
As I walk you through her chart and how it came to inform her branding, I want this post to give those who are curious about astrobranding a glimpse into how I read charts.
I read charts using Traditional Astrology methods with whole sign houses. The outer planets (Neptune, Uranus, Pluto) matter if they’re strongly positioned, but they aren’t the backbone of interpretation.
We start with the basics by looking to the big three: the Sun, Moon, and Rising. This lays the foundation for the person, as it speaks to your mission, how you live out that mission, and the direction your life is heading in.
Eliza’s Aries Sun is driven and original. She’s here to be a pioneer.
Her Libra Moon adds relational intelligence and aesthetic knowledge. She lives this out through relationships.
Her Taurus Rising grounds everything in steadiness and discernment, and adds another layer of aesthetic know-how.
CHART RULER
Next, we look to the chart ruler, which acts as the “helm” of the ship and is the direction your life (and work) is naturally steered to. For a brand, it’s the core motivation behind it.
As a Taurus rising, Eliza’s chart ruler is Venus in Aries, located in the 12th house, closely conjunct the Sun.
Venus speaks to aesthetics, desire, art, harmony, and values. Placed in Aries, this makes Venus bold, independent, and courageous. This translates to visuals that have a bold edge, but subdued due to the hidden, behind-the-scenes nature of the 12th house.
Venus conjunct the Sun shows that creativity and beauty is tied to who she is. This energy playing out in the 12th house reveals how she works: internally and behind the scenes. Which is exactly how brand strategy functions: it shapes everything, yet most of the work is unseen.
There’s also a lineage element here, which is another 12th house theme. Eliza shared that her father (who can often show up as the Sun or Saturn in the chart) was an artist and architect who was largely absent, and she began painting later in life. Venus in the 12th can describe inherited or dormant artistic influence, where creativity is transmitted through memory, absence, or inherited lineage.
→ Who does the 12th house answer to? Mars.
To get even more insight, we have to look to the lord of the 12th to see who this house is answering to. Aries rules her 12th — Mars, the ruler of Aries, sits in the 10th house of career and reputation.
And how incredibly literal this is! Her private creative work (12th) flows directly into her public reputation (10th). Everything points to someone who thrives when she’s the architect of big ideas, the loner genius who is shaping the direction behind the curtain.
THE 10TH HOUSE
The real meat of astrobranding comes from the 10th house. The 10th house is the place where career, public role, and reputation can be found. The highest point in the chart (and quite literally the sky), this is the pinnacle of life. Most of a brand’s aesthetics should be shaped around the 10th and its ruler.
Her 10th house is in Aquarius, with Mars and Jupiter here close to the MC.
Aquarius is a sign of the people. This sign is eccentric, collaborative, and future-facing. It’s the architect of systems, the strategist, and the designer of frameworks that help communities and ideas evolve. Saturn is its traditional ruler, lending structure and discipline; while the modern ruler Uranus adds innovation and disruption. This duality shows up in her work: grounded in structure with forward-thinking insight.
These planets here add a bit more nuance:
Mars in Aquarius / 10th
decisive and strategic forward thinking
idea-led leadership
ability to rally and organize others around a vision
Jupiter in Aquarius / 10th
amplification of reputation
fortunate timing in career shifts
big-picture, philosophical thinking
natural teacher/mentor tendencies
Sect Consideration
Because Eliza has a day chart, Jupiter is the most supportive planet for her. Its placement in the 10th makes professional expansion a central theme and it becomes especially potent when she leans into roles that involve teaching, facilitating, guiding, and shaping systems.
We also want to lean into this planet as we start to consider her visual identity.
→ Strategic takeaway: Her brand identity should feel visionary, articulate, community-minded, and intelligent. Grounded in structure with selective moments of boldness.
SECONDARY CAREER HOUSES
Looking to the 2nd house (our resources and how we make money) and the 6th house (day to day work, routine, health), we can glean more info on her career and how it affects her 10th house/public image.
2nd House: Gemini (with Saturn)
The 2nd house shows us how we make money, our values, skillset, problem solving and resourcefulness. In Gemini, income comes through communication, adaptability, intellectual range, and specialized knowledge. Gemini brings multiplicity and skill-stacking; Saturn adds discipline, structure, and mastery over time.
This is someone who earns through the cerebral: thinking, writing, teaching, consulting, and mental frameworks. With Saturn coming into play with her visual identity, this creates a more restrained and pulled-back look.
6th House: Libra (with the Moon and Pluto)
Workflows tied to aesthetic harmony, emotional intelligence, and the ability to hold space for others’ transformation. With Moon very close to Pluto, she also needs to be wary not to go through cycles of burnout and to take very good care of her body.
The Moon adds relational awareness. Pluto adds depth, excavation, and the ability to “go there” psychologically with clients.
→ Grand Air Trine
Her 2nd, 6th, and 10th house placements create a beautiful grand trine, a gift from the universe that allows her to effectively communicate, strategize, add conceptual depth, and be a thought leader. The element of air is all about information and exchanging ideas with others, so we’ll want to communicate this in the design!
MESSAGING: THE 11TH HOUSE
The 11th house shows the audience you attract and how your message lands.
Pisces rules her 11th, with Mercury placed there. This combo suggests an audience made of:
creatives, visionaries, and intuitive thinkers
people drawn to nuance, symbolism, and conceptual storytelling
younger thinkers or figures in business/commerce (a Mercurial signature)
Mercury doesn’t operate “cleanly” in Pisces. It communicates through feeling, imagery, and metaphor rather than logical analysis. This creates a distinct brand voice: layered, atmospheric, and intuitive.
Translating All of This into Design
Now that we’ve looked at the different pieces of the chart, we can begin translating them into a visual language.
We return to the 10th house (Aquarius with Mars + Jupiter) as the core of the visual direction.
An Aquarius-rooted identity expresses:
conceptual intelligence
structure and architecture
minimalism with ideological richness
futurism without novelty-for-novelty’s-sake
strategic disruption
TYPOGRAPHY
We chose a font family that felt friendly, clean, architectural, and with range. Eliza gravitated toward sans-serifs, so we selected a family with multiple weights and a narrow option to support hierarchy and clarity. Enter Authentic-Sans — the perfect fit.
COLOR
We drew from her Venus in Aries (bold, art-led, a nod to lineage) and her Aquarius 10th house (structural futurism). The palette is bold and Bauhaus-inspired, rooted in history (12th house) but pushing forward. Deep, saturated hues paired with unexpected accents create tension and movement.
We played into the 12th house by adding gradients, which give a dreamy and ethereal touch.
LOGO SYSTEM
Parentheses became the central motif. They act as visual “containers”, a reflection of her role as someone who frames, contextualizes, and shapes ideas. This logic extended into layout and secondary marks.
Grand Air Trine Expression
We incorporated spacious composition, intentional whitespace, animation and movement, and emphasis on communication — the visual language of air and clarity.
